Here are our tips and answers from the mapstr team, to help you get the most out of your application.

Mapstr allows users to save their favorite places around the world on a digital Map , so they always have it with them. Whether it's places they hear about and want to try one day, or places they enjoyed and want to remember.

On mapstr, users can discover their friends' maps and access all their favorite addresses around the world, and find guides from their favorite influencers, brands or media.

Mapstr also allows you to create maps with several people, to prepare vacations, or have a common Map between colleagues.
No more anonymous and false reviews
Becausereviews from people we don't know, from artificial intelligences, or bought via more or less legal services are useless... only the friends of people whose tastes we know count!
Mapstr is available on the App Store and Play Store. Downloading the app is totally free, ad-free, and we don't sell any data (see our privacy policy).

Wealso have a web version if you prefer to use mapstr on your computer.
Mapstr offers complete and unlimited use of the application, free of charge for all users.
However, some content (maps) may be subject to a charge: some travel guides, such as Le Petit Futé, or certain magazines offer their mapstr maps for purchase, in the same way as they sell their paper versions. The proceeds from these sales are donated to our partners.
Mapstr accompanies you around the world! The application is available and works worldwide, so you can use it wherever you are.
- Access my data : You can access your Map mapstr from anywhere in the world. Whether you're at home, traveling or in a new location, your Map will be accessible at your fingertips.
- Save a Place : You can add addresses from anywhere in the world to your Map mapstr . Whether you're discovering a delicious restaurant in a foreign city, or want to mark your home, mapstr lets you add all those precious addresses without any limits, and without needing to be on the spot!
Mapstr is a private social network, where you can save all the places you want to remember.
To enable you to safely find all your saved places at any time and from any device, we need a way to identify you (that's the main purpose of the app after all! 😉 ).
Your account will also allow you to choose a unique username to be identified by your friends, your privacy settings and the people with whom you wish to share your Map.
Once the app has been launched, there are just a few steps left to create your own Map and discover new places. Touch the Go ! button to get started.
Sign up with Place
1. Enter your first and last name. This will let your friends know who you are before giving you access to their Map.
2. Enter your Place e-mail addressand create a password. You can only have one account per Place e-mail. Please check your Place e-mail before confirming! Choose a password with more than 6 characters.
3. The last thing to do is to choose a username that represents you. Usernames should be unique, with more than 5 characters, and only standard characters... Taking over your Instagram username is often the right choice! 😉
4. Press the Create my account button .
Sign up with Facebook, Apple or Google
1. Press the button for the identity provider you prefer to use.
2. Follow the provider's instructions to allow Mapstr access to your identity. We do not require any additional authorization, as we do not collect any data other than your name, photo and Place from these providers.
Linking your account to Facebook allows us to identify your Facebook friends who already use Mapstr. It will also help you find friends on Mapstr. We do not have access to the rest of your Facebook friends, nor to any other data you may have on Facebook.
If you've forgotten your password, don't worry! It's very easy to reset 🎉.
Open the application, and go to the I already have an account screen:
1. Enter your Place e-mail address, then click on Log in by e-mail.
2. Click on the Forgot your password? link above the Log in button.
3. Check your inbox
You should receive an e-mail with the subject line Reset password for Mapstr. Press the included link and choose a new password.
💡 If you don't see the email, don't forget to check your spam 🧐.
You can modify almost everything in the application to make it your own! And, of course, you can edit your profile:
1. From the application's Profile tab:Tap the Edit my profile button (just below your name and photo)
2. Edit any field
3. Save
Thiswill allow youto edit all the information about yourself:
- Username, first name, last name Place email
- The city you live in
- Your biography and external links (website, Instagram, Tiktok)
If you wish to log out of your account:
1. From the Profile tab, open Settings (top right of screen)
2. Navigate to the bottom of the page
3. Press the Logout button
You've forgotten your password
If you've forgotten your password, don't worry! It's very easy to reset 🎉.
Open the application, and go to the I already have an account screen:
1. Enter your Place e-mail address, then click on Log in by e-mail.
2. Click on the Forgot your password? link above the Log in button.
3. Check your inbox
You should receive an e-mail with the subject line Reset password for Mapstr. Press the included link and choose a new password.
💡 If you don't see the email, don't forget to check your spam 🧐.
If that doesn't work, or if you've forgotten your Place email
If you've forgotten thePlace email you registered with at mapstr, don't worry. We're here to help.
To retrieve your Place e-mail, please contact us directly by e-mail atPlace hello@mapstr.com. Our team will do its best to assist you and provide you with the necessary support.
Please remember to provide us with as much information as possible so that we can verify and recover your account. We'll get back to you as soon as possible to help you retrieve your Place e-mail address and access your account.
If you've lost access to your Facebook account and can no longer log on to mapstr, don't worry, we're here to help!
Please contact us atPlace hello@mapstr.com with your username (the @...) so that we can unlink your Mapstr account from your Facebook account.
Once we've unlinked your account, you can set a new password to secure your Mapstr account. Use thePlace e-mail address you used for your Facebook account as your login, and the password you've just set, to log in.
We know how important it is to keep your information secure, and we're here to help you every step of the way.
The mapstr application is optimized for cell phones, so it can be used wherever you are, whenever you need it.
And it's also possible to use mapstr from your phone, for those who prefer a larger screen for planning a trip for example!
To do so, simply go to the following URL: https://web.mapstr.com.
From the web version, you can take advantage of several practical features:
- View your Map and all the addresses you've already added.
- Add new addresses to your Map.
- Edit your tags to organize your places according to your preferences.
- Access your friends' maps and discover the places they've shared.
The web version offers a less complete experience than the mobile app, but allows you to manage your places and explore them with ease from your computer.
Our emails are carefully designed to provide you with useful advice and guidance on your first steps, to keep you up to date with major announcements and, above all, to help you discover new and exciting places near you every week.
However, if you prefer not to receive emails from us, you can easily change your preferences in the application. Once you've logged in to your account, here's how to do it:
1. From the Profile tab, open Settings (top right of screen).
2. Navigate to the Notifications section.
3. Check your settings from Email Notifications and adjust them according to your preferences.
When you register with mapstr, we ask if you'd like to receive mobile notifications. We recommend that you agree to receive them, as they will keep you up to date on a variety of exciting topics:
- Your friends' activities (invitations, messages, latest additions, etc.).
- Proximity alerts for places you've selected.
- New features and updates to the app. New features and updates to the app.
- Openings of popular places near you.
- Contests, if any...
However, if you prefer not to receive push notifications, you can change your preferences directly in the app. Here's how to do it once you're logged in:
1. From the Profile tab, open Settings (located at the top right of the screen).
2. Navigate to the Notifications section.
3. Check your settings in Mobile Notifications and adjust them according to your preferences.
It's not possible to lose your data Mapstr !
Ifyou've logged in and your Map is suddenly empty, it's probably because you've just created a new account by misspelling your Place e-mail or using a different login method to the one you used when creating your account.
If you can't remember the login method or thePlace e-mail you used, please contact us atPlace hello@mapstr.com, indicating your username and/or thePlace e-mail address you think you used for your mapstr account, and we'll try to help you.
We believe that you should be able to access your data at any time, even outside the application. That's why we've included an export function that lets you download a copy of your data.
We offer the CSV file format (which can be opened by Microsoft Excel, for example) and the GeoJSON file format (for geodata software).
1. From the Profile tab, open Settings (top right of screen).
2. Navigate to the Data Management section.
3. Tap on ExportYou'll receive both files by e-mail 🤩
You have the freedom to choose between a public or private account on Mapstr. Private accounts require approval of all follower requests, while public accounts are accessible directly to followers. As a result, public accounts can be followed by anyone and addresses can be seen by everyone.
If you want more control over who can see your addresses, you can opt for a private profile. Only people you accept will be able to see your addresses.
Note that only influencers and individuals can go public. If you use mapstr for professional reasons and wish to open your Map to the general public, you must request a mapstr Pro account by contacting us at partnerships@mapstr.com.
To deactivate public mode:
1. From the Profile tab, open Settings (top right of screen).
2. Deactivate Public Account.
Are you leaving us? We're very sad to hear that! But your privacy is very important to us. If you wish, we'll delete your account and all the data attached to it.
To delete your account permanently, follow these steps:
1. From the Profile tab, open Settings (top right of screen).
2. Navigate to the Data Management section.Press the Delete my accountbutton
⚠️ Warning! We will not be able to retrieve your data once you have deleted your account.

Mapstr also allows venue owners to manage their listing and the information that appears on it, from a dedicated online space.
From this space, you can:

Mapstr offers influencers the opportunity to join our platform and share their tips with their audience. As a certified mapstr influencer, you can benefit from invitations to restaurants, hotels and other interesting partnership offers.
Here's how to become a certified influencer:
1. Fill in the following form: Influencer form.
2. By providing your information, you make it easy for us to contact you and evaluate your eligibility as a certified influencer on mapstr.
We'd be delighted to discuss collaboration opportunities with you and help you make the most of your experience on mapstr.
Any type of location can be saved on mapstr, whether it's a business, a landscape or a point in the middle of nowhere.
There are several ways to add a location to your Map :
From your Map :
- Tap the big + button, then search for the desired location by choosing the search mode you want (by name, Place or coordinates).
- Touch the large + button, then use the Add your position directly function to add your current position, or the place where you are.
- Long-press the Map at the exact point where you want to add a location.
Depart froma location's listing:
- Add a location from another Map using the Add button at the bottom of the location's listing.
Depart fromthe news feed:
- When people you follow add new locations to their Map, they appear in your news feed. Click on the + button next to the place name to add it to your Map.
Depart fromthe Explorer tab:
- Use the search bar at the top of the screen to search for a specific place and add it to your Map.
You also have the option of importing addresses from other applications, such as Google Maps or other sources, directly to mapstr. For detailed instructions on how to import these addresses, please refer to the question "Importing addresses" in the FAQ.
💡 If you can't find the place you're looking for in our suggestions, you can create a custom place. This place will not be created for everyone, but just for you, so you can add whatever you like.
Once you've selected your place, it's time to customize and classify it.
You can:
- Add as many tags as you like to better describe the place. You must select at least one.
- Change the icon to better represent the place to you: press the pre-selected icon to choose another.
- Write a comment to add additional information for you and your friends.
- Add your own photos: this is a great way to remember what happened on your last visit.
- Mark this place as "to try" or "already done" to make it easier to find your way around your Map by identifying places you haven't tried yet.
- Mark this place as secret: if you don't want to share this place with anyone, even your friends, press the Keep this place secret button. No one but you will be able to see it on your Map.
- Create an alert when you're nearby.
💡 Most location attributes are filled in automatically by mapstr. But you can modify them or add your own information, such as phone number or website. The only mandatory attributes of a place are its name, Place and at least one tag.
You can modify all the information on a Place on your Map Mapstr , and these modifications remain private: any changes to the name, phone number, comment, icon, and above all the photos, affect only you.
To modify or delete a place on your Map on Mapstr, simply open the place, then use the edit place button.
Here's how to proceed:
1. From the location you wish to modify, click on the Edit button at the bottom of the screen.
2. Once on the edit screen, you can perform the following actions:
- Edit the tags associated with the location.
- Edit your comment about the location.
- Update the information about the location.
- Manage the photos you've added.
- SetPlace as private.
- Activate a notification when you're near this location.
- To delete the location from your Map, scroll to the bottom of the screen and you'll see the Delete this location option.
💡 Deleting the location from your Map will result in the loss of all information you have previously entered for that location, including photos, comments and tags.
There is no limit to the number of places you can add to your Map Mapstr . You are free to add as many places as you like to build up your personal collection.
Similarly, there are no restrictions on the number of tags you can use. You can create and associate as many tags as you need to organize and categorize your places according to your preferences and needs.
Take advantage of the freedom offered by Mapstr to explore and save all the places that interest you, accompanying them with the relevant tags for easier search and navigation.
You can import locations from Foursquare, Swarm or your contacts:
1. From your Profile, open Settings (top right of screen).
2. Navigate to the Data management section and press the Import data button.
3. Choose the application from which you wish to import data
Or you can also import Google Maps data:
To import your Google Maps data into Mapstr, you need to go to Google Takeout to export your map data. You should receive them by email or by downloading a zip file which you will need to unzip. You'll be able to open Google's kml / kmz / json / csv files directly in Mapstr.
Simply long-press these files from any other app on your phone (typically your mail or files app) to bring up the "open with" menu, and choose "copy to Mapstr" from the list :).
💡 If you are a professional and would like to import locations from a CSV file with custom format, please contact us at hello@mapstr.com (paid offers).
If you notice an error in the displayed name of a place you've added to your Map, please report it so that we can correct it as soon as possible.
Here's how to report an error:
1. From the location concerned, scroll to the bottom of the screen and click on the Report error button.
2. Select the Location name option.
3. Don't forget to click Send.
We will process your request as quickly as possible to rectify the error. If you have any further questions or require further assistance, please do not hesitate to contact us. We're here to help!
If you notice an error concerning thePlace or the positioning on your Map of a location you have added to your Map, we invite you to report the error so that we can correct it as soon as possible.
Here's how to report an error:
1. From the location concerned, scroll to the bottom of the screen and click on the Report an error button.
2. Select the option Place or position on Map.
3. Don't forget to click on Send.
We will process your request as quickly as possible to rectify the error. In addition, there is another option for changing the position of a marker on your Map, ifPlace is correct.
From your Map, go to the relevant place card and long-press the marker.
1. Move the marker to the location of your choice, then release it.
2. Confirm the chosen position and this will modify the location's position on your Map only.
This will enable you to customize the position to better match reality.
If you tap the List button at the top of a Map, you can see all the locations in that Map as a list. You can then:
1. Filter addresses by tags and filters using the menu on the left (where you see the tags).
2. Search in the search bar, by clicking on the magnifying glass icon. This can be:
- A city
- A Place
- A tag
- The name of a place.
3. Sort addresses according to several criteria by clicking on Sort by, to display the various options available:
- Distance (from your current position)
- Most recent date added
- Earliest date added
- Alphabetical order (A to Z)
- Rating (5 to 1)
💡 You can do all this on your Map and on those of other users.
When you add a place to your Map, you have the option of indicating whether it is a Place To Try or Already Tried.
This feature allows you to easily identify the different types of places on your Map, as well as on those of other users. Places rated as To Try are accompanied by an emoji on the marker for visual recognition.
By default, when you add a place to your Map, its value is To Try. To change it, click on the switch at the bottom left of the add screen, to change it to Already tested.
You can change the default value of the To Try button so that all locations default to Already tested when added. Here's how:
1. From the Profile tab, open Settings (top right of screen).
2. Navigate to the Settings section of Map.
3. Change the value of the To be tested button by clicking on the switch button on the right.
Once you have tested a location on your Map, you can change its value to indicate that it is now Already tested. You can make this change in several ways:
- From the location's file: click on the To Try switch button to change its value.
- From the list view of your Map : click on the switch button of the location you have tested
- From the edit screen of the location file: from the location file, press Edit at the very bottom of the screen, then click on the switch at the bottom left of the add screen, to change it to Already tested.
By using these options, you can easily organize your locations and keep track of those you wish to test and those you have already discovered.
Planning your vacation in advance and want to easily view addresses saved in another city? Here are a few tips to help you:
Depart fromthe Map view: move easily from one city to another using the Center Elsewhere option. To access it, click on the arrow icon at the bottom right of a Map. You'll be repositioned directly on the city of your choice.
Depart fromlist view: If you tap the List button at the top of a Map, you can see all the places in that Map in list form. You can then:
- Search by city in the search bar, by clicking on the magnifying glass icon .
- Or simply sort the addresses by Distance, by clicking on Sort by, if you're in the desired city or if you've used the Center Elsewhere option explained above.
The visibility of the comments and notes you have left on a location depends on the privacy settings of your Map.
- Private account: only the people you follow and have accepted will be able to see your comments and notes.
- Public account: people who follow you, as well as anyone who visits your Map , will be able to see the comments and ratings of your addresses.
However, if you have activated the privacy option to keep Place private, no one will be able to see it except you.
It should be noted that premium establishments (who take out a monthly subscription with mapstr to be able to publish news in the News Feed), can see anonymized public comments that have been left on their location (as a regular user can do manually in the application by consulting the maps of all users who have added this location).
If you notice an error concerning a location you have added to your Map, please report it so that we can correct it as soon as possible.
Here's how to report an error:
1. From the location concerned, scroll to the bottom of the screen and click on the Report an error button.
2. Select the option that best corresponds to the problem encountered.
3. Don't forget to click Send.

Express your creativity by organizing your favorite places according to your own categories and preferences. Tags add a personal touch to your Map.
To add tags to a location, you can use existing tags or create new ones. At any time, you can modify these tags or delete those that are not in use.
Feel free to modify them by changing their colors to create shades or sort them by theme, play with their names or add emojis.
To change the name or color of a tag:
- Either long-press the tag in the left-hand menu on your Map.
- Or, when adding or modifying a location, long-press the tag in the list of existing tags.
To delete a tag, you must be in the process of adding or modifying a location.
1. Long-press the tag in the list of existing tags.
2. Click Delete tag
💡As there can be no place without at least one tag, you cannot delete a tag in use. If you really want to delete this tag, you must first remove it from all locations.
From Map, either your own or those of other users, go to the left-hand menu (where you see your tags), press the three-dot icon and choose one of the following options:
- Sort by name to sort tags alphabetically.
- Sort by use to sort tags according to the number of places associated with them.
- Custom sort to define your own order. Drag and drop tags to set the order, and don't forget to save (available only on your Map).
Addresses stored on a Map can be sorted according to the tags assigned to them, either in the Map view or in the list view.
To sort your addresses, follow these steps from the tab Map TAB:
1. Click on the menu at the top left.
2. Several sorting options are available:
Filter your addresses by theme: Choose to display on your Map only those addresses that meet the following criteria:
- Addresses you haven't yet tested.
- Addresses you've already testedAddresses that are currently open.
- Addresses that allow online bookingThe addresses that are permanently closed so you can view them easily and delete them if you wish.
Filteryour addresses according to your tags: Select the tags whose associated addresses you wish to see. By pressing the three-dot icon, you can choose to filter in the following ways:
- Cumulative: All locations with at least one of the selected tags will be displayed.
- Exclusive: Only locations that have all the selected tags will be displayed.
3. Reset the filters by dragging the contents of the left-hand menu downwards.
You can sort the addresses on the maps you are exploring in these different ways. An additional filter is available from other users' Map , called In common. This allows you to display on Map only those addresses that both of you have added to your respective maps.
Planning your vacation in advance and want to easily view addresses saved in another city? Here are a few tips to help you:
Depart fromthe Map view: move easily from one city to another using the Center Elsewhere option. To access it, click on the arrow icon at the bottom right of a Map. You'll be repositioned directly on the city of your choice.
Depart fromlist view: If you tap the List button at the top of a Map, you can see all the places in that Map in list form. You can then:
- Search by city in the search bar, by clicking on the magnifying glass icon .
- Or simply sort the addresses by Distance, by clicking on Sort by, if you're in the desired city or if you've used the Center Elsewhere option explained above.
If you think the markers on your Map and those of your friends are too big, don't worry - you can change their size! To do so, follow these simple steps:
1. From your Profile, open Settings (top right of screen).
2. Navigate to the Settings section of Map.
3. Click on Marker size.
4. Use the slider to select the marker size.
5. Don't forget toSave before you go!
You can now return to Map to view your new markers!
To change the style of Map in satellite view, follow these steps:
1. From your Profile, open Settings (top right of screen).
2. Navigate to the Settings section of Map.
3. Click on Type of Map.
4. Select Satellite.
5. Click on Back to save your selection.
Never again lose track of your past visits to a location by registering them on mapstr.
Follow these simple steps to add a visit to a location:
1. From the listing of the location to which you wish to add a visit, make sure the location is already marked as Already tested.
2. Click on the Add a visit button.
3. Select the date of your visit and add an optional comment to remind you of important details.
4. Don't forget to Save before you leave.
You can add as many visits as you like to a given location. This will enable you to keep a precise record of your past experiences and recall your memories at any time.
Proximity alerts are an extremely practical feature that allows you to receive notifications on your phone when you are near a specific location.
You can activate this feature for places you want to discover as a priority, or those you don't want to forget.
To activate proximity alerts, follow these simple steps:
1. From the screen of the location for which you wish to receive alerts, click on the Edit button at the bottom of the screen.
2. On the edit screen, scroll down and activate the Notify me when I pass by option.
3. If you haven't already enabled it, make sure you allow geolocation in the background so that we can detect your proximity to the location.
4. Don't forget to click Save to save your changes.
Once proximity alerts have been activated, you'll be notified on your phone when you're near the selected location. This will ensure that you don't miss any opportunities or important places when you're out and about.
On mapstr, it's one account, one Map. This is because the aim is to use tags to filter your addresses so that you can find everything as you like, without wondering which Map you saved which Place.
If you want to create a second Map to save different addresses, you'll need to create a second account.
Please note that you can't use the same Place e-mail for two accounts. Use a different Place e-mail address when creating your new account.
To create a new account, follow these steps:
1. Access your Profile by clicking on your @username above your profile photo.
2. Click on Add an account.
3. Follow the steps to create a new account by clicking on Go !.
Havinga new account will allow you to take advantage of a separate Map to save addresses that match your specific needs.
At Mapstr, you can create maps where several people can contribute. Each of these people uses their own account to add addresses to a shared Map .
Here'show you do it:
1. Go to your profile and look for an option that says "Collaborate with more than one person".
2. Click on it to start sharing your Map.
3. Invite the people you want to share the Map with.
4. These people must accept your invitation before they can add addresses to Map.
5. If you want to stop sharing the Map with someone, you can simply go back to the list of people you share it with and remove them.
Thereare a few things you need to know about these shared cards:
- The people you share your Map with can add new addresses, but they can't delete or change the addresses you've added.
- As the creator of Map, you can change or delete any Place.
- If you wish, you can create a new account just for your Map shared. To do this, go to your profile and click on your username which is displayed above your photo.
You can share your Map for free with up to 20 people. If you want to share your Map with more people, you need to contact us by following this link: Contact form.
Yes, it is possible to book online directly at mapstr, whether for restaurants, bars, cafés or hotels. To make a reservation, simply click on the blue button at the bottom right of the venue's screen to access the booking tool specific to that establishment.
Please note: mapstr takes no commission on the booking, and redirects directly to the venue's preferred booking system.
It's worth noting that some venues also display their menu, offer takeaway or home delivery, offering a more complete experience.
💡 Not all venues yet offer the online booking functionality on mapstr. We are working closely with our partners to extend this functionality to as many venues as possible.
If you wish to start afresh, you can reset your Map. This will delete all addresses and tags.
To do this, proceed as follows from the Profile tab:
1. Open Settings (top right of screen).
2. Navigate to the Data Management section.
3. Click on Reset my Map.
💡 You won't be able to recover your Map once it's been reset, so don't forget to perform an export beforehand, just in case!
To easily find someone's Map , it's handy to follow this user. If the user is public, you'll have immediate access to Map and will be able to find it in your Subscriptions. If the user is private, you'll have to wait for their approval.
Pending requests are located at the bottom of the Subscriptions tab, below your friends list.
To follow someone on mapstr :
From someone's Map : click on the Follow button at the top right of their Map
From the Subscriptions tab: press the Add a friend icon (top right)
From here, you can:
- Find people: each user has a unique username. So you can add friends by typing their username in the search bar. You can also type their first name, last name or Place e-mail directly if you're not sure of their username.
- Share your profile: by message, e-mail, Facebook Messenger, WhatsApp, ...
- Invite friends: from Facebook or from your contacts.
Your subscriptions
Easily find all the maps you follow, whether those of your friends, influencers or media you like, guides that accompany your travels, etc.
To find them, open the Subscriptionstab.
Youcan easily sort them by:
- Alphabetical order
- Most recent subscriptions
- Number of locations
Also use the search bar to search for a user by name.
Your subscribers
Just as you follow other users to see their Map and location recommendations, you can be followed by other users.
To see the list of users who currently have access to your Map :
1. Open the Subscriptionstab
2. Press the Subscribers menu.
For each person who follows you, you can:
- Follow them back
- Remove them from your list of followers
If you wish to remove someone from the list of users you follow, you can either:
- From the Subscriptions tab: press the three small dots next to the profile of the person you wish to unsubscribe, then click on Unsubscribe.
- From a user's Map : click on their name at the top of the screen to access their profile, then click on Subscribed.
Many users don't want to explore their friends' maps one by one, but prefer to see them all at once!
If you're one of them, simply go to the Subscriptions tab and click on Overlay all maps (below the search bar).
This Map Overlay feature will show you the most popular locations among your friends and the maps you follow, based on the area of Map you're looking for.
You can move the Map and trigger a new search with the Search this area button at the top of the Map preview.
💡 If you can't find the place you're looking for, you can also tap the blue Discover maps that recommend places bar here to find official maps with places in that specific area.
To access a Map, go to the Subscriptions tab, where you can see the list of cards you're following. Simply choose the Map you'd like to explore by tapping on it 😄.
You can explore someone's Map as if it were your own:
- Filter their addresses using their tags
- Access the list view to sort and search
Wouldyou like to add your friends' places to your own Map ? Simply tap the Add button once you've selected that location. As a bonus, your friend will appear as the place's prescriber when you open it from your Map
You can choose to be notified as soon as a friend adds a new location to their Map :
1. Go to the Subscriptions tab, with the list of maps you follow.
2. Press the three small dots to the right of the friend's name or Map to open the options.
3. Tap the Enable notifications 🔔 option to receive notifications for this Map.
There are many other things you can do to enhance the exploration of your location recommendations with your friends' maps, including adding your favorite maps to your Favorites for quick retrieval.
1. Go to the Subscriptions tab, with the list of maps you follow.
2. Press the three small dots to the right of the friend's name or Map to open the options.
3. Press the Add to favoritesoption ⭐️.
Youcan choose the order of your favorites with a simple drag-and-drop.
Want to share a Place with your friends? You can choose to send it by SMS, email, Messenger, Whatsapp, the app of your choice or even directly to mapstr !
Simply use the Share button that appears when you select a location from any Map, and choose the app you'd like to use to share it.
💡 To access mapstr messaging, click on the envelope icon from the Subscriptions tab. You can send individual messages to your friends, send group messages, send locations to your friends. Very useful for planning night outings!
The easiest way to tell your friends about your Map is to share it on other social networks.
1. Press the Share button in the top right-hand corner of the main screen.
2. Choose the area of Map you'd like to preview.
3. Choose the application you'd like to use.

You can also share your Map from your profile, discovering our referral program in the process.
To participate in the mapstr referral program and benefit from the advantages available in your region, please follow the instructions below:
1. Open the Profile tab and click on the blue banner presenting the referral program.
2. Fill in the city in which you live: We ask you to provide this information to enable you to access the referral program available in your area.

There are two types of referral programs on mapstr :
- Petit Futé program: Each time you refer a friend with your code, you and your friend win a free Map Petit Futé. You can collect your gift via the referral program, accessible from your profile.
- Program with prize draw: This program is only available in certain major French cities. Each month, we organize a draw with a prize to be won in each eligible city. To take part, simply sponsor 3 friends. Each referred friend also entitles you to a free Map Petit Futé. If you are the lucky winner of the draw, you will be contacted by our team!
Where can I find my referral code?
Your referral code is available in the referral program details, accessible from your Profile. You can copy it or share it via the application of your choice.
Where do I enter my referral code?
If a friend has shared their referral code with you but you don't know where to enter it, there's a dedicated step when you register to make a note of this code. Be sure to enter it at this stage so that it is taken into account correctly.

With mapstr, it's possible to compare your Map with that of another user, ideal for choosing the perfect place to go with that person!
To do so, follow these steps from the person's Map with whom you wish to compare your addresses:
1. Click on the menu at the top left.
2. Select the Places in commonsorting option .
3. You can now see the addresses you have both added to your cards.
Don't hesitate to combine this filter with tags to refine your search as much as possible. This way, you can easily identify common addresses and plan your next outings together!
To access mapstr and share your addresses with friends to plan your next outings, follow these steps from the Subscriptions tab:
1. Click on theenvelope icon at the top right of the screen.
2. This will take you to mapstr, where you can view your existing conversations or start a new one.
Once in a conversation, to send a Place to a friend, you must:
1. Click on the + button at the bottom left of the screen to access media types.
2. Select the pin icon to add a Place to your message.
3. Choose the location(s) on your Map that you wish to share.
4. Don't forget to press the Send button.
💡 It's not possible to delete a conversation once it's been created. So make sure you manage your discussions well.
The heart of mapstr lies in the maps that users, media, brands and others create to highlight the places they recommend. Each Map is unique, some made by experts in a theme, others by locals who want to show off their favorite places in a city, so there's something for everyone!
From the app's Discover tab, you can access a multitude of map recommendations based on what you're looking for:
- By fixed themes: That's what the Your Sources of Inspiration section at the top of the screen is for! Select the theme of your choice to obtain map recommendations made by our team, according to specific themes.
- Official maps: These are maps proposed by media, brands or influencers whom we trust and who offer you quality content and recommendations.
- Local users: These are users whom we highlight in the application for their number of addresses close to you and with whom you're likely to have tastes in common.
- By free themes:
1. Touch the search bar at the top of the screen to open it and start your search. You can search for places, maps/users or articles.
2. Select the city in which you are looking for Map or recommendations.
3. To obtain map recommendations, we suggest keywords to use in your search, but you can type any other popular keyword such as "Visit", "Brunch", "Wine", etc. in the search bar.
4. If we manage to get card recommendations with the keyword used, you'll see a "best cards from #[keyword]" search result.
5. Click on it to see a list of popular map recommendations in the selected city, based on your keyword.
6. All that's left is to subscribe to these maps for easy retrieval, by clicking on Follow.

From your News Feed: The News Feed lets you get inspired by the latest finds from the maps you follow.

1. Touch the search bar at the top of the screen to open it and start your search. You can search for locations, maps/users or items.
2. Select the city in which you are looking for a location or recommendations.
3. To get recommendations for places, we suggest keywords to use in your search, but you can type any other popular keyword such as "Visit", "Brunch", "Wine", etc. in the search bar.
4. If we manage to get recommendations of places with the keyword used, you'll see a search result "the #[keyword] for you".
5. Click on it to see a list of recommendations of popular places in the selected city, based on your keyword.
6. Now all you have to do is add these places to your Map by clicking on the + button.
Some of the maps available on mapstr have to be paid for: these may be maps from travel guides (digital versions of Petits Futés guides, for example), from paid-for paper magazines (such as Elle à Table), or from professionals who wish to be remunerated for the work involved in creating these maps.
When you purchase a Map map on mapstr, you gain lifetime access to it. You can easily find it in the Subscriptions section of your profile. This means you can consult and use Map as often as you like, with no time limit.
To quickly access specific Mapstr content from your phone's home screen, you can add widgets. Here's how to do it:
1. From the Home screen, touch and hold a widget or empty area until the apps come to life.
2. Touch the add + button in the top left-hand corner.
3. In the search bar, enter mapstr.
4. Select the widget you want from the two available options:
- The latest food news from your city.
- Quick access to save a Place to your Map.
5. Select a widget, choose a widget size, then touch Add widget.
6. Touch OK.
